The legislation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) establishes clear rules for the import and export of cash, alcohol and other goods. These rules help ensure transparency in financial transactions and regulate the flow of goods. Let's look at the key aspects.
Cash withdrawal limit per person
The TRNC has a standard international limit: 10,000 euros per person or the equivalent in another currency at the official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Northern Cyprus on the date of export. Amounts exceeding this limit are subject to mandatory declaration.
Exceeding the limit
If the amount exceeds the established limit, you must:
- Fill out the declaration at customs.
- Obtain permission from the TRNC Central Bank.
Failure to comply with these rules may result in forfeiture of funds and fines.
Features of cash export by minors
In TRNC legislation there are no age restrictions for exporting cash. Minors can carry up to 10,000 euros. However, if large sums are detected from children, customs services may request supporting documents. Parents are advised to accompany their children and prepare the necessary paperwork in advance.
Bringing cash into the TRNC
The rules for importing cash are similar to exporting: amounts up to 10,000 euros do not require declaration. If the amount exceeds this limit, you must:
- Fill out the declaration in triplicate:
- The first copy remains with the passenger.
- The second is transferred to customs.
- The third is sent to the TRNC Central Bank.
Import of alcohol
Duty-free import of alcohol into the TRNC territory is limited:
- 1 liter of strong drinks (more than 22% alcohol).
- 2 liters of wine (up to 22% alcohol).
Alcohol can only be carried by passengers over 17 years of age. If you want to import more, you will need to pay a fee: 10 euros per liter for up to five liters. Import of more than five liters per person is prohibited.
When exporting alcohol from the TRNC to the CIS countries, similar rules apply: up to three liters are allowed to be exported duty-free. For a volume of three to five liters, you must pay a fee of 10 euros per liter. Import of more than five liters is prohibited.

The border between North and South Cyprus is open, but there are strict restrictions on the movement of goods through it.
Permitted goods:
- Cigarettes : up to 40 pieces.
- Alcohol : 1 liter of any strength.
- Agricultural products : up to 3 kg.
